Bridges gave an educational talk about the basics of copyright law to the First Coast Christian Writers, a local chapter of Florida Writers Association, at the Webb-Wesconnett Regional Public Library.

Bridges is now contributing blog articles to www.golojax.com.  Bridges is writing non-fiction articles about neighborhood events and fun profiles of local businesses in Riverside and Avondale, the historic district in Jacksonville, FL.  Her first  article is Gearing Up with City Cycle (July 28, 2011).

Kudos Section—p. 34

Bridges appears in the official publication of the Florida Writers Association under the Kudos section for the publication of her nonfiction essay, Brick, in the Living Lessons anthology.  The blurb noted that the “book is an inspirational collection of short stories and poems illustrating the enduring legacy of life's most important lessons in courage, tolerance, optimism, love and support as it is passed to us by the amazing people who touch our lives. Contributors included Poet Laureates Elaine Morgan and Michael S. Glaser, Pushcart Prize winner Paul Hostovsky, New York Post and Huffington Post columnist Tina Traster, several Chicken Soup for the Soul® contributors and dozens of other noted writers.”  Bridges wrote about lessons she learned from her deceased father who loved words and lively debate.

September 2011—Mother Goose Anthology on Shelves Sept. 1 from Damnation Books.

Bridges’ short story, Clair de Lune will appear in the upcoming anthology, Mother Goose is Dead: Modern Stories of Myths, Fables and Fairy Tales. Her story is a retelling of the Irish Selkie or Seal Woman myth. Lawyers don’t usually make house calls.  But when lawyer Quentin Dumphy bends to the request of a wealthy recluse to destroy a small sea chest after news of a missing baby, he faces a sinister choice... Check it out at your favorite local or online bookstore.

August 2011—August Heats Up for Bridges  

It’s been a busy August for Bridges with three articles published on www.golojax.com: On the “Cutting Edge” in 5 Points (Aug. 1, 2011), It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane...It’s Superheroes (Aug. 22, 2011); and, Spice Up Your Life at Green Man Gourmet (Aug. 29, 2011).  Her draft novel ,The Bridles of Poseidon, is also under review this month with the quarterly First Coast Novel Critique at the South Mandarin Public Library.  And her classes started, too!

 

November 2011—Is it a Crime?  Mystery and crime are in the air. First Coast Novel Critique meets Sunday at the South Mandarin Public Library to address a critique peer’s mystery manuscript.  Bridges’ publication of her mythical mystery story, Clair de Lune, was also noted in The Docket section of the quarterly newsletter for Sisters in Crime.
